Arkansas Department of Emergency Management Releases Mobile Application
Just in time for National Preparedness Month, the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management (ADEM) has released ReadyAR, an emergency preparedness application, to the mobile market. ReadyAR provides planning and preparedness information, news and events from ADEM, contact information complete with Area and Local Coordinators in the event of an emergency.
There are various helpful sections included in the application, including:
- The Roadways section: provides a link to the Lane Closure and Road Conditions Maps provided by the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department as well as Web updates on lane closures and Interstate projects.
- The Weather feature: provides current conditions, links to interactive radars and forecasts representing all of the weather stations utilized by ADEM, as well as weather alerts (provided by the National Weather Service) geocoded to your location – or users can choose another county or all counties in Arkansas to view threats in other areas.
- The Threats section: provides current ground and transportation threat information from Homeland Security as well as current Cyber Threats with information on how to protect yourself, as well as recognizing and reporting suspicious activity.
- The Planning section: provides information to prepare for emergencies and natural disasters.
“This app is a great all-in-one resource for Arkansans to prepare for the variety of disasters and emergencies that we face. As a mobile app, the information is at your fingertips and adjusts the information based on your location,” said Chad Stover, Deputy Public Information Officer, ADEM.
ReadyAR is available for free in iTunes for iPhone and Google Play for Android.
