State government portal wins 10 awards in 2013 for innovative websites and online applications that save Arkansas taxpayer money

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – January 22, 2014 – The state of Arkansas, in partnership with the Information Network of Arkansas (INA), has been honored with an impressive 10 accolades in 2013 for its cutting-edge web design and online services that streamline government operations and save taxpayer money. Back in September, the state’s official website,, was recognized as a finalist by the Center for Digital Government in its 2013 Best of Web Awards competition. This marks the eighth time has been ranked among the top ten state websites in the country.

“Arkansas has long been a leader in eGovernment, and it is an honor to once again be recognized for the innovative work on our website,” Arkansas Chief Technology Officer Claire Bailey said. “Our consistent performance in Best of the Web over the years is a tribute to the hard work and vision between our state agencies and partner, INA.” and its partner state agencies won the following awards in 2013: The new state portal website features a modern design and innovative features including texting service Gov2Go, Smart Search, vertical parallax scrolling and a mobile-optimized “responsive” design that ensures citizens can access the site on any device.

Arkansas Crime Information Center: 2013 Digital Government Achievement Awards: Government-to-Government: Winner, CENSOR (Centralized Electronic Network of Sex Offender Registries). CENSOR improves the paper-based registration and management process of more than 11,720 sex offenders in Arkansas, provides more timely information to citizens, has saved the state roughly $55,000 per year and reduced the cost of manual processing of forms by $17,500.

Arkansas Office of Personnel Management: 2013 Digital Government Achievement Awards: Government Internal: Winner, Arkansas State Jobs Applicant Tracking Module. The newly developed Applicant Tracking Module for has enabled Arkansas state agencies to eliminate paper from the hiring process, dramatically increase the speed of evaluating and hiring candidates, and has saved the state more than $1 million dollars.

Arkansas Office of the Attorney General: Best Redesign “WAGGY" Attorney General of Western Attorneys General: Best Redesign among all Attorney General office websites, The redesigned “responsive” website for Attorney General Dustin McDaniel presents useful information in a mobile-friendly format that adjusts to comfortably fit any size mobile or desktop screen.

Arkansas Department of Higher Education (ADHE): Best Fit Integrator Exceptional Service Award in Education Services: Partner and Project: Arkansas Career Pathways Data Management System (CPDMS). This online management tool has improved ADHE’s grant request process for disbursing funds to the Career Pathways Initiative (CPI) and has saved state employees 500+ working hours annually, which equals $100,000 per year.

Arkansas State Board of Nursing (ASBN): Best Fit Integrator Performance Award in Licensing Partner and Project: Arkansas State Board of Nursing Online License Application System. The ASBN State Licensure System integrates a Criminal Background Check process into an online application, which replaces a paper and manual application for 24 types of nursing licenses.
